Need an Iphone application that will synchronize all phones to take a pic at the same time.

Also tag photos with location and direction to create a single point in time picture of the world.

More along this line,
Do not need to synchronize, but selectively soliciting pictures of outdoor environment by iphone users that are part of application community.

for example.

You DL application that tags your pictures.
Now you have 5 dimensional metadata to add to your photographs
1+2 = x,y location GPS
3 = elevation
4 = Temporal
5 = Directional (which way the camera is pointing, this gives ability to recreate perspective on the ground that google maps currently does)
- the benefit of this is that it is closer to real time and updating the status of the world as it happens rather than using yearly historical photos.
Think real-time street view.

As a solicting service wold this be too intrusive?
As an individual with multiple solicitations a day maybe, distribute solicitations to selective users to fill gaps where image data is missing as well as accounting for number of iphone or application users and interruption is (significantly) reduced.

Applications for this could be


Simply Artistic : create images that take a viewer on trips across the planet in whatever pattern would be fun. Infinity symbol, circle, patterns through light/ dark.
This effort could be coordinated through user participation and timing of photos. E.g. device buzzes, asks to take photo and guides user which direction to point it.
Uploads content to internet and creates art in this way.

Forensic : Alerts prompted by reports of criminal or security related activity. These could activate video and audio recording on devices of subscribers and prompt for directional focus. Application can estimate radius and expected route of incident or perpetrators initiating application on subscribers.
