If you could teach telepathy and telekinesis to someone, where would you start?

Self protection, defense, offense? ..zen?

At one point on a whiteboard I wrote..

"Telepathy = out of control empathy"

I think I meant telepathy could be accomplished with specifically directed and intense empathy.
